Year 1's ideas for improving the playground

Year 1 have been thinking about how to improve the playground. They have been very busy! They made a short film and then wrote to Mr Wallace.

Mr Wallace wrote back to Year 1. This is what he said...

Dear Year 1, Thank you very much for writing to me with you ideas for improving the playground. I was impressed by all your ideas. I really liked the film you made too! Im glad you like the slide and other things in the playground. WATER FOUNTAINS I am going to make sure that you like the water fountains. They are only three years old but maybe we need new ones. STONES If children do throw them then that is very naughty. You must tell one of the many adults that are on playground duty. I am going to make sure all the stones go and put something different there instead. Perhaps you have some ideas? BENCHES There a re quite a lot of places to sit down in the very big playground that we have. The benches you are talking about are not meant to have backs to them. Miss Penzer and all the other teachers are going to remind you to be careful but the best idea is not to get too excited when you are sitting on one of the benches. They have been there a long time it would be a shame to get rid of them. GRASS There are some parts of the school that have grass that you are allowed onto. There are some that you are not. I agree we need more plants and flowers. What a good idea! We've bought quite a lot of new plants recently, like all the ones that go in the window boxes that you walk past when you come into school every morning. I will buy some more. I am going to speak to Mr O'Connor and Les - who are in charge of matters to do with the school building. They will have lots of good ideas too and will check you are happy with what we do to further improve the playground. By the way, I hope you like the new dining room. We have repainted it, put a new floor in and bought you very expensive, new, shiny tables! Thank you for all your letters. I have read them all but can't fit them all onto the website. You have made some very good points. Thanks again. Yours sincerely, Mr Wallace
