The 2006 production was a significant performance being both the UK premiere and of very high quality. Doing this wonderful play again was a risk…

But in 2009 the children of Woodberry Down embraced the challenge and took the play to another level. It was absolutely fantastic!

Underpinning the success of the 2009 performance was the conviction with which the children spoke their lines: they knew what this was all about and knew how to get the key messages across. Many thanks to all the adults who worked so diligently to support this production: the set, costumes and back stage management were all incredible.

The BNP had been on the BBC TV programme ‘Question Time’ the previous evening. Seeing the children re-enact the history of 1960’s America with such conviction made the case for real equality as strong as ever.

Very well done to all involved.
